Being back in class has me drawing far more than I had been the past years. It's been great getting back to art. My maquette skull is still a work in progress, poor girl is still sitting around with her bald head. Once I get my phone reloaded, I'll try to get some pictures up...or I'll have to take new ones. I've added wrinkles and other textures to her face.

The above two works are experiments in Photoshop. One is a light study using saturation and value and the Cowpolk is an organizational doodle working with multiple layers. Still, I'm pretty happy with that Cowboy, it's a bit out of my usual style.

Mapdana

The Riverwest 24 this year was an awesome event and I got the privlidge of designing a Map that was then printed onto bandanas. You can see in the pictures, all the yellow maps tied around necks of heads of the 500 riders.

Week 6

Week six...spent part of the studio time fixing (but not finishing my botched ear). I also added eyes. To help with the consistency of shape, I dug holes in granny's head and filled in the space with glass marbles. The marbles don't melt during the baking/curing process.

Week4

Week 4. Coming along. Something that is odd about sculpture is that it's easy to go from a point where forward progress is happening quickly to suddenly finding yourself working on a small object or minute details for hours. Solid work that yields next to nothing in terms of noticeable results. For instance, I have one decent looking ear, but totally dicked it in terms of placement and size of the opposite side. Aargh.
